Corbin Park Restoration #2

Word travels quickly when you do good work, and during our four months in 2016 working on the first project on Corbin Park, a neighbor spotted us and engaged us to work on their home a block away. This home had similar signs of failed paint throughout, especially on the South facing front porch.  Another hurdle we were faced with was removing old metal cladding from the soffits and corbels in order to re-expose these two important features of this historic home.

We replaced wood on areas of the front porch, porch pillars, a few half timbers as well as a few small soffit sections.  As you’ll see below however, when the metal siding was installed, the company literally sawed off the ends of the corbels, so part of the job entailed re-creating this feature with new hardwood caps which were permanently affixed to the cut corbel ends, filled, sanded and painted to match!

This project showcases our ability to prepare a variety of surfaces for paint, including tackling common exterior wood repair or replacement scenarios. All the paints chosen were from the Benjamin Moore historic colors collection.
